Housing Works “Bride on a Buck” NYC Event Tomorrow (10/20)

Bride on a bronc...best I could do.

Well, my darling geniuses at Housing Works are upping the ante once again with a terrific event. I’m under the wire here with posting this, but you’ve just got to know about it.  If you live in or are visiting the NYC area, you’re just going to fall head over heels with the deals on bridal gowns.  If not, you can still shop online for some of their amazing deals on designer jewelry, clothing and housewares!  Details are coming in a sec, but first, I want to stress how important the work is that Housing Works does.

Housing Works is the largest community-based AIDS service organization in the United States, as well as the nation’s largest minority-controlled AIDS service organization. Since their founding in 1990, they have provided lifesaving services, such as housing, medical and mental health care, meals, job training, drug treatment, HIV prevention education, and social support to more than 20,000 homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS.

My sister Alexis died of the disease in 1995, and I’ll take any chance I get to support the tireless people at Housing Works.  No matter your stance on the issue, they do good works and help out a lot of people who otherwise would be in even more dire straits.

So saddle up, my beauties – you’ll look gorgeous on your special day, save a feedbag of cash, and know that you’re helping out real people by shopping at a community thrift store!

Bride on a Buck

Yes, it’s an evocative title, and the sale is even more titillating. If you’ve got your nuptials planned (or you just like to be prepared for any occasion), getcher beautiful, hope-filled self down to Gramercy, asap!  I’ve seen similar sales at the 23rd St. Housing Works, and it’s absurd.  We’re talking $50-$300 for Vera Wang, Reem Arca, Badgley Mischka, vintage – you get the idea!  The secret here is that a great lot of these gowns have been donated directly by the designers – and many more are, well, there for a good cause.  I can hear you panting now, bride to be.  “When?” “Where?” Here you go.  Take a friend, a snack, a camera, and go find your perfect gown!

WEDNESDAY, 10/20, 10:00-??
